A DELICIOUS BREAK
Due to the Coronavirus, and taking into account the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers, we have made the difficult decision to close Buffers until further notice.
It is a truly difficult decision, but feel it is for the best at this time.
We will obviously monitor the situation and hopefully reopen again very soon.
Thank you for your understanding.
Pam, Susan and the Buffers team
Back o’th Hill Farm is a small family run working dairy farm located within the Bolton Abbey Estate. The dairy farm hosts Pedigree Canadian Holsteins and was established over 50 years ago. It is ‘farm assured’ guaranteeing that the animal husbandry and stewardship of the land, farmed by us, is to the highest possible standard. The buildings which house the Coffee Shop date back to 1633 and as much of the original structure is still in place.
The Coffee Shop seats around 50 and the weary traveller can be revitalised with a variety of delicious home made and locally sourced produce.
We are set along the popular circular walk of Bolton Abbey – an ideal location for the half-way stop of walkers and cyclists.
‘Buffers Coffee Shop’ gains its name from the large static model railway displays which relate to the history of locomotion from the Rocket to the present day.
Hornby, Bachmann, Dapol and Metcalfe models are all for sale in the shop and we also stock a large variety of Britains Farm equipment, Corgi and Lledo Road vehicles. We also have a wide selection of books, cards and gifts.
Situated near to the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway we welcome railway enthusiasts, big and small to view our model railway collection.
Climb the stairs from the Coffee Shop and you will be greeted by our model railway. We have a large collection of model locomotives, complete sets, track and landscapes for sale.
